Gordon Close, Founder, Guitars for the Troops - presents in person a little guitar history and the benefits of providing guitars to service men and women. Harvest Guitars For The Troops is committed to providing quality guitar packages to service men and women around the world. Benefits of playing the guitar include musical enjoyment, education, music therapy and physical rehabilitation. Elle Sypek, Denver Mile High and District 5450 World Peace Fellowship nominee , will be speaking about Aarti for Girls, (a not for profit in Kadapa, India that works to end gender discrimination and the abuse of women and children), and specifically about a grass root, community level approach to change and how this has cultivated a comprehensive, positive impact for the physical and mental health, education, and livelihood of women and children.

This is one of the Club's most popular fundraisers. Woohoomanity Challenge is DMHR's fundraiser bike ride sponsored by Denver Southeast Rotary and piggybacking on the Denver Century Ride. Our team includes four repeat participants: Melanie Gentz, Steve Blazek, Tom Cella, and Marty Waters. Five additional Club members participating this year are Annely Noble, Robin Springer, Charlene Porter, Debra Flick and Margaret VanCliet. Project Worthmore is a local non-profit that focuses on refugees, especially food security. Members of Denver Mile High Rotary volunteer each month with the organization to package and deliver food to refugees. On December 1, 2021 we will visit thier main offices at 1666 Elmira St. in Aurora to learn more about the work that they do. Frank Anello, Executive Director of Project Worthmore, will talk about the history and mission of the organization. Members planning to attend should respond to the email invitation so that sufficient food and coffee will be provided to the attendees/ Note that this program will not be available on Zoom. |
