A long-standing volunteer with Uplift Internationale (UI), Jim has been on several trips to the Philippines and worked with Dr. Jamie Yrastorza, founder of UI and a fellow Rotarian from Wheat Ridge. Stella Dongo has been a wonderful friend of Denver Mile High since 2005. She has been the Club’s partner in community development in Zimbabwe since 2009, involved in five Rotary Grants worth over $500,000. Stella lives in Zimbabwe and in 2013-2014 she served as the first indigenous woman elected as District Governor in Africa. In 2015, Stella was one of only six women to receive Rotary’s global Women of Action Award. Most recently, Stella worked with a Zambia Rotary Club in her District 9210 to be awarded a $2 million Rotary grant to eradicate Malaria in Zambia. Join us to hear about her life and Rotary. Carol Bower is the Executive Director of Girls Athletic Leadership School. GALS Denver. is a public, tuition-free, all-girls charter school (serving grades 6-12) with a strong focus on leadership while also leveraging the power of athletics and movement to better support learning. The school was born 11 years ago and since then has taught thousands of young women with their unique model. In 2020, they were recognized as 1-of-10 US Schools by the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative for Expanding the Definition of Student Success. Ms. Bower will be presenting in person at the University Club. Healthy Living for Brain and Body - Making Living with Alzheimer's Easier, presented by Sandra Bainbridge. Sandy Bainbridge is a trained volunteer speaker for the Colorado Alzheimer’s Association and a former Rotarian. Her Mom passed away March 2017 after a brave nine years with Alzheimer’s disease. Her father-in-law also died of Alzheimer's disease in 2018. There isn't much that Sandy hasn't learned while helping these parents and teaching Alzheimer's classes in the last 11 years.
