In this episode host Chuck Leavell, keyboardist and musical director for The Rolling Stones and passionate forestry advocate, conservationist and tree farmer, travels to South Carolina to highlight the unique history, challenges and successes of three African American forest land owners.

Nader Hashemi is the Director of the Center for Middle East Studies and an Associate Professor at the University of Denver. Nader is a leading expert on the Middle Eastn and frequently interviewed by PBS, NPR, CNN, Al Jazeera, Pacifica Radio and the BBC. His topic will be: How can we explain the ongoing turmoil and instability in the Middle East? Are the roots of the region's turmoil to be located in history, religion or politics, specifically Western interventions in this region?

Kent Drotar, PR Director, will introduce us to the Wild Animal Sanctuary. This sanctuary specializes in rescuing and caring for large predators which are being ill-treated, for which their owners can no longer care, or which might otherwise be euthanized. Created in 1980, The Wild Animal Sanctuary is situated on grassland northeast of Denver, and currently houses over 500 rescued animals. |
